Shravan Chavan of the Orbis School wins Robotics Premier League Jr. held at IIT Bombay

Robokidz Young Engineers Club had organized the 5th Robotics Premier League in association with IIT Bombay at the National Level

 
Building socially engaging robots can help people live better lives. Robotics is an interesting topic for children of all ages. Keeping this in the mind, The Robotics Premier League Jr. was held at IIT Bombay with a goal of familiarizing the children with the world of Applied Science. The fifth Robotics Premier League Jr. was organized by Robokidz Young Engineers Club in association with IIT Bombay.

Shravan Chavan of the Orbis School performed admirably throughout the competition and was declared the national winner in ‘Aqua Racer’ category of the Robotics competition. During this competition, the robot had to race through the water and avoid hurdles placed in between. Shravan’s robot did this in shortest period of time; hence he was declared the winner. He was awarded a certificate and cash prize for his achievements in this competition.

The qualifying round of the Robotics Premier League Jr. was held in Pune. During the qualifying round students had to make robot based on the theme ‘Clean and Green City’ which had robots picking up objects floating on water. Shravan Chavan secured second rank in this competition and qualified for the Grand Finale of Robotics Premier League Jr. Sixty eight (68) students from various schools in Pune participated in the qualifying round. Robokidz, the Young Engineers Club had trained the children of the Orbis School to make their own robots to participate in the Robotics Premier League.

The Orbis School’s Manav Jadhav participated in the Aqua Cleaner category of the Robotics competition, where he also showcased his talent.

Mrs. Veronica Dorairaj of the Orbis School said, “The Orbis School has always emphasized on the education of Robotics for the children and today we are proud of Shravan Chavan and Manav Jadhav who have shined at the Robotics Premier League Jr. held at IIT Bombay.”

About Robotics Competition…
The main objective of organizing this competition is to make children curious about science, to develop a scientific approach towards life and most importantly teaching children how to use technology to solve various problems the society is facing. This time the competition was based on the theme ‘Clean and Green City’ to bring children closer to the environment and nature.
