Many times when diseases pertaining to liver and Kidney arise, ‘Organ Transplants Surgeries’ are at times the only option available! Sayadri Hospitals performed eight organ transplants surgeries in a month for the first time in Pune. This includes five liver transplants surgeries and three kidney transplants surgeries to give a new lease of life to this patient.

Therefore, these eight organ transplant surgeries done at Sahyadri hospitals are a commendable event in medical (healthcare) sector Pune.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahyadri Hospitals, Chairman and MD, Dr. Charudutt Apte said, “One of the most beautiful things a human being can do is to help another human being.”

Talking on this occasion, Liver expert at Sahyadri hospitals Dr. Bipin Vibhute said, “Eight organ transplant surgeries in a month have been done for the first time in Pune and these surgeries were performed at Sahyadri Hospitals, which is very important to create awareness about importance of organ donation.”

While talking about organ donation Dr. Prashant Rao Liver expert at Sahyadri hospitals said, “There is lack of awareness about organ donation and organ transplant in our society. These surgeries performed at Sahyadri Hospitals would play a vital role in creating awareness about organ donation and transplant surgeries.”

Dr. Atul Sajugare Nephrologist of Sahyadri Hospitals said, “We are already running a successful kidney transplant program at Sahyadri Hospitals. Conducting 3 cadaveric donor kidney transplants in a month’s span is a big milestone for the department. We have already performed live related donor kidney transplants including pediatric transplants.”

Dr. Manish Pathak said, “We at Sahyadri Hospitals have recently launched new state of the art organ transplant center and in such a short period of time we have got very good response. Two aspects played a key role in these organ transplant surgeries, first the families of brain dead patients decided to donate organs of the brain dead patient and secondly our world class team of transplant surgeons.”

In addition to that, four families decided to donate the organs of their kins and as result, 18 people have got a new lease of life. Among these organ transplant surgeries, five surgeries were performed at Sahyadri Hospitals and remaining surgeries were performed at other hospitals. These successful transplant surgeries performed at Sahyadri Hospitals would go a long way in creating public awareness about the importance of organ transplant. Not only in the city of Pune but in Maharashtra state as well.
