The Adventure Hub, Pune (India) since many years has been organizing many unique and adventurous sports events. The first Pune Mayor’s International Skate Away Expedition has been organized from 12th April 2016 to 16th April 2016 from Pune to Gateway of India Mumbai, by The Adventure Hub Pune and Pune Municipal Corporation by giving the most important message of Save Environment. 18 children (9 girls and 9 boys) age of 6 to 13 from different parts of our country will be taking part in this first ever Pune Mayor’s International Skate away.
The 5 days Pune Mayor’s International Skate Away Expedition will be the first ever Expedition started by any Mayor of the city in the world which has been organize by The Adventure Hub, Pune ( India ) with support by Pune Municipal Corporation. The children participating in Pune Mayor’s International skateway expedition will be skating away through the old highway from Pune to Pimpri-Chinchwad, Talegaon Dabhade, Lonawala down through the old khandala ghat on their skates through Khopoli , Panvel Vashi, Chembur, Dadar, Protuguése church, Haji ali , Peddar road, Marine drive, Kulaba and reach to Gateway of India on 16th April 2016.
During the press conference to announce the skate away expedition, Mr. Prashant Jagtap (Mayor, PMC), Mr. Suresh Babu (Founder, The Adventure Hub), actress Mrs. Aditi Govitrikar and actor Mr. Abhijeet Khandkekar were present on the dais.
On this occasion, The Mayor of Pune, Mr. Prashant Jagtap said, “Looking at the current issues of national and international importance such as climate change, the message of ‘Save Environment’ which will be given by Pune Mayor’s International Skate Away Expedition is very important. Pune Municipal Corporation is delighted to be associated with such an initiative that will be beneficial to the society.
Founder of The Adventure Hub Mr. Suresh Babu said, “We have decided to donate Rs. Ten Lakh to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Fund to the Drought hit Marathwada Farmers, from the fund which will be raised by the First Pune Mayor’s International Skate Away Expedition. This donation will be handed over to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadnavis at the Concluding Ceremony of the Pune Mayor’s International Skate Away Expedition on the 16th of April 2016, at 6pm at the Gateway of India, Mumbai
He further added, “It is not just a game to play, we are here to give the large picture of it by spreading the awareness ‘’Save Environment’’. Roller skating was first used in London and from then it has taken place in people’s heart. Many countries in the world have federation to support roller skating with a goal of creating enthusiasm about skating among the masses. In India skating is taking place at a huge platform because of the adventure hub.’’
On this occasion famous actress Mrs. Aditi Govitrikar said, “It is really a precious moment for me to be a part of this cause. Skate Away expedition will bring a new energy in every child and will entuse others to be a part of it.”
Actor Mr. Abhijeet Khandkekar said, “Skate Away Expedition is the most exciting thing happening in Pune; it’s awesome to be part of such a great expedition. I’m amazed to see the energy of these children. It needs a lot of practice and moral support to participate in such an expedition. The adventure hub is giving excellent training and support to all the participating children.’’
