When muffins are no longer fresh, they tend to become dry and papery. The best thing you should do is buy them fresh from a bakery store in Vancouver. A good bakery store in Vancouver such as The Valley Bakery should have freshly-baked muffins and other baked goods waiting for you.

But to make those muffins last longer, here are some things you should try:

1. Allow the muffins to cool down completely first before storing.

If you got them freshly baked and they are still warm, let them cool down before you store them. This is to prevent moisture from developing.

2. Put paper towels in the container you are using.

Paper towels can absorb excess moisture from humidity. This will prolong the freshness of the baked goods as it staves off the production of bacteria. Using an airtight container is enough but adding paper towels can go a long way in preserving the muffins.

If you don’t have a box to put them in, you can use a Ziploc bag. Just put some paper towels inside. Seal it tightly, making sure air does not get in.

3. Don’t put them in the fridge.

Use a bread keeper to store your muffins. That will keep the inside soft and the outside fresh. If you refrigerate the muffins, it will be hard to get the softness back.

Don’t individually wrap the muffins with a cling wrap as that can trap moisture inside, leading to soggy muffins. These are the things that you can do to ensure that you still have delicious and fresh muffins to eat.
