More than four years ago Rajendran began to experience increasing symptoms of pain in the facial muscles and nerves. An MR Angio was done of his brain which showed an artery was compressing a cranial nerve near the brain stem. This condition is known as Glosspharyngeal Neuralgia and was the cause of the severe pain he suffered. Medications that were prescribed for him initially did help, but over time the intensity of the pain kept getting worse. Swallowing, talking, chewing, coughing and yawning became painful to the extent of being unbearable.
