• Gold panning, done manually, isn’t very efficient. It’s time consuming, and, horrifyingly, a lot of gold is wasted in the process.
• Very small particles of gold are the most common alluvial deposits. These particles can be as small as talcum powder, and in huge volumes.
• The small particles, obviously, are the ones most likely to get washed back in the panning process, and that’s what happens with manual panning.

The new automated gold panning machines work using “classifiers” (filters) in sizes from ½ inch mesh and larger down to 400 mesh, which is as fine as talcum powder or ultra fine flour. It really does make a difference when you have the capacity to recover gold on this scale.

We currently have two machines which are good examples of this technology – The Desert Fox and Pro-Camel are automatic panners, incorporated with spiral wheel technology to extract gold from the concentrates. Another unit, the Americal Buffalo trammel, has a Desert Fox unit built onto the trammel so the entire process is automated.
