In recessionary times many people look to transition into higher paying, in-demand careers. If your job has been outsourced or is not paying enough - you have three criteria that you want to meet before you decide on the perfect career and job.
Criteria #1: My job has to be so crucial that it can't be outsourced.
Criteria #2: My job has to have a very high occupational outlook (i.e. greatly in demand) so I won't be laid off.
Criteria #3: I cannot devote a large amount of time to school because I need a job fast!
Chances are since you've read the title, you know the career I'm about to advise you: Certified Nursing Assistant. A certified nursing assistant meets all of the above 3 criteria:
*The hospital cannot hire a nurse to do virtual work (not yet anyways!)
*The growing number of aging baby boomers and increased life expectancy will keep the the demand for nursing services very high.
*As a certified nursing assistant you won't have get a full-fledged nursing background. You'll assist a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in caring for patients.
So by becoming a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) you will have your finger on the ideal job and perfect career. So how do you go about becoming a CNA?
How Can I Become A CNA By Taking Online Classes?
The best part about becoming a CNA is that you don't have to wait years. You have to complete a two-part process: theory (i.e. book based learning) and clinical (i.e. practical training).
Many colleges (local community colleges) offer online training CNA classes where you can complete the "theory" portion of your certification online. That can save you a lot of time going back and forth, especially if you already have a job and can't afford to or don't want to quit.
You will probably have to go in for orientation, tests and the like depending on your local college, but a majority of it can probably be completed online. After about 50 hours of theory you have 100 hours of clinical practice to go.
By the end of it, you will become a certified nursing assistant. Basically you need to master the skills of caring for patients (helping patients walk, feeding, dressing, assist with brushing, give bath, assist in performing exercises and so on). A lot of it is compassion and love for the job and before you know it, you will be a CNA and fruitfully employed!
