Tuvizo Examines Best Activity for Weight Loss

Different forms of exercise have been proven to aid weight loss. Running and cycling are both aerobic activities with varying benefits and Tuvizo gets at the bottom of it.

 
According to Professor Hirofumi Tanaka, director of the Cardiovascular Aging Research Laboratory at the University of Texas, running and biking are both rhythmic aerobic activities that involve the use of large muscle mass. So Tuvizo takes it to task to see which form of exercise works best at one goal: weight loss.

Judging was made on different criteria to determine the real winner. These include, stamina building, calorie shedding, muscle forming, fat burning, injury prevention. Cycling wins the first round as it helps build sustainable stamina in the long run helping cyclist fans lose a significant amount of weight over a longer period of time.

Running takes calorie shedding next. The American College of Sports Medicine determined that running makes use of the entire body thus it increases calorie burning as compared to biking. For comparison’s sake, a 160-pound person running at 5 mph burns 606 calories in one hour. If the same person bikes at less than 10 mph, he will burn 292 calories.

Cycling helps build leg muscles like no other sport as it trains glutes, quads and hamstring at the same time. Running however strains the joints. Like calorie burn, fat burning is also high on the scale after running compared to cycling. A 2010 study published in the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism showed that fat oxidation is way higher during running compared to cycling when done with the same intensity.

So the decision happens in the final round on which activity helps prevent incurring any injury so weight loss is sustained for however long it takes. Cycling takes the lead with 3 to 2 wins as for 1,000 cycling sessions, only 6 injuries are recorded to happen according to British Cycling compared to 11 injuries in the same amount of sessions for running.
