- Ensure that your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Go to settings > [your name] and tap on the iCloud button. If you are using iOS 10.2 or an earlier version, then go to settings and then scroll down and tap on the iCloud button.
- Scroll down and tap on the “iCloud Backup” button. For those using iOS 10.2 or earlier, you should tap on the “Backup” button. Ensure that iCloud backup is turned on.
- Tap “Backup Now” and make sure that your Wi-Fi connection stays on until the process is complete.
- Make sure that the entire process is finished. You can do this by heading to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Storage > manage storage, and then select your device. You should be able to see your backup details with the time and backup size. For those using iOS 10.2 or earlier versions, then the path should be as follows: Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.
- Turn your iCloud Backup on by following this path: Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
- Ensure your device is connected to a power source.
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
- Lock your device’s screen.
- Make sure that there is enough space in iCloud for the Backup.
