Washington, D.C., August 2021 — The Turkish Heritage Organization, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization focused on analysis and research surrounding the NATO alliance and U.S.-Turkey relations, has released the first issue of a quarterly defense publication analyzing the latest technological issues within the defense, security and political spheres that have and will continue to impact Turkey, the U.S., the NATO alliance, and the Middle East region.
Under the leadership of Dr. Can Kasapoglu, Director of Defense and Security at EDAM, and COL. Rich Outzen (Ret.) former Senior Advisor for the Syrian Engagement team in the U.S. State Department and current Senior Fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, the issue includes interviews with former U.S. Ambassador James Jeffrey and perspectives by Michael Doran of the Hudson Institute.
Through analysis surrounding tension within the U.S.-Turkey relationship and the hope for NATO, the defense review shares in analysis of the bilateral relationship that in an “increasingly multipolar world, the U.S. must retain allies with the will and capability to balance against anti-Western aspiring hegemons...and stabilize states in crisis.” With the dialogue in the Turkish Defense Review, deepening understanding of the developments in Azerbaijan, the U.S.-Turkey relationship and NATO, we see a focus overall on alliance-building and continued scholastic conversation surrounding these issues.
