Stavanger is a city and municipality in Norway. It is a metropolitan area in Norway and administrative centre of Rogaland country. Stavanger is considered to be the third-largest urban zone of Norway.

Stavanger is considered to be the third-largest urban zone of Norway. The city’s rapid population growth was primarily a result of Norway’s booming offshore oil industry. Today the oil industry is a key industry in Stavanger and the city is widely referred as the Oil Capital of Norway.

STAVANGER CATHEDRAL:
Stavanger cathedral was built in the 12th century by Englishman Bishop Reinald. It is located in the city centre. The choir was rebuilt in Gothic style after fire in 1272, and so the whole church was renovated in 19th century.

OLD STAVANGER:
One of the most beautiful areas of the city is referred to Old Stavanger. The historical area of the city consists of a collection of quaint older homes nestled along meandering cobblestone streets and is the last surviving wooden house settlement in northern Europe. The galleries, museums and streets are worth exploring.

STAVANGER ART MUSEUM:
Stavanger art museum is home to one of the country’s finest collections of Norwegian and international art. It is located in a beautiful park surrounding Lake Mosvannet just two miles from the city centre.

MUSEUM STAVANGER:
The Stavanger Museum exhibits natural and cultural history along with Children’s Museum. It provides a useful background of the city’s cultural roots, flora and fauna and also the story of how the sea has shaped community over the centuries.

PREKESTOLEN- PREACHER’S PULPIT:
Prekestolen is one of the most popular attractions in the Stavanger fjord. The most striking feature is a flat topped crag some 1,960 ft above the sea level. From Stavanger it can be reached by road or ferry which also involves a two-hour trek. It is a perfect place for those who venture out here, the views are spectacular.
