The video, created entirely using artificial intelligence, tells the story of a woman stuck in a dysfunctional relationship, using her daily train journeys as a portal to reflect on lost dreams, forbidden passions, and the haunting possibilities of an alternate life. The narrative unfolds as a "film within a film," shifting between the stark realities of her commuter life and cinematic scenes that echo the choices and adventures she never pursued.

At the heart of the project is Mollie Maid—an AI-generated singer and actress who portrays multiple versions of the protagonist across both the music video and the fictional film sequences. Her performance represents a major leap forward in how artificial intelligence can craft and inhabit emotionally rich characters.

"On A Train" also reflects a groundbreaking development in music production. Slave Labour, who first rose to prominence in the 1980s, used innovative AI voice cloning technology to recreate the vocals of their original singer—who left the band over 30 years ago. By reviving the unique sound of their early years, the band has created a track that feels both timeless and futuristic, seamlessly blending human emotion with technological innovation.

“We wanted to create something that didn’t just use AI as a gimmick but made it central to the storytelling,” said script editor Louise Balmor. “The themes of reflection, longing, and identity feel even more powerful when told through a character—and a voice—that exists because of technology.”

The music video’s entire production—including character design, environments, cinematography, and direction—was powered by next-generation AI tools, making "On A Train" a trailblazing example of fully AI-driven media.
