Easter Sunday: a day filled with family, friends, egg hunts, and (hopefully) some wonderfully warm spring weather. However, even though many families partake in dying Easter eggs and putting together baskets of goodies for the younger family members, Easter is a sacred and religious holiday, one that must be treated with respect. One of the best ways to show the holiday some respect is through what you decide to wear on Sunday. Keep on reading because I am about to let you in on some of my favorite Easter attire that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and/or dinner.

　　When deciding what to wear on Easter Sunday, you want to have the words (1) appropriate, (2) conservative, (3) colorful, (4) stylish and (5) respectful floating in your head. Rather than giving you specific outfits to wear on Easter, I am going to give you suggestions that can be taken in a variety of directions (since everyone’s closets are different and everyone celebrates Easter in a different and unique way).

　　Dresses

　　Not only are they a safe option, but they are also an option that can be styled and personalized to each individual person. When choosing the perfect dress for Easter, remember your five criterion. Even though you want to choose a dress that you feel comfortable and beautiful in, you need to respect this holiday and make sure that the dress is appropriate. So, I am telling you now, low necklines and skin-tight material might be great for a night at the bar, but not for Easter.

　　High neck-lines are very trendy at the moment and display the proper amount of modesty when celebrating on Sunday; however, there are dresses that have lower necklines that are still appropriate for this special day (just use your best judgment). Make sure that the dress you choose is not too short — if you cannot bend down or sit with your legs crossed comfortably then you should probably find a different dress.

　　If you are worried about crossing your legs while wearing a dress, you can have the best of both worlds and opt for a romper. Rompers are essentially dresses, but rather than having a skirt at the bottom, you have a skort or shorts. When deciding on a romper, you want to still remember the degree of modesty you most uphold in your outfit, but the one lenient aspect is that the romper you decide on can be a little shorter in length compared to dresses (considering all areas are covered in the lower extremities with rompers).

　　If you’re the type of person who takes great joy in mixing and matching clothing, wearing a skirt and blouse rather than a dress or romper is the perfect fit. My favorite part of wearing skirts and tops is that you can style them in so many different ways compared to dresses. You can go for a flowy top and bottom combination. Or, you might want a more fitted blouse and a bouncy skirt to pair with it. For the Easter festivities, any of these combinations would work.

　　However, if you decide to go for a more fitted top, make sure that the material is nice enough so that it does not cling to your skin and, of course, beware of low necklines! In terms of the skirt, as long as it is a respectable length and not super tight, you really cannot go wrong. A-line skirts give off a more serious vibe, while skater skirts have a more whimsical tone!

　　Now that we have a few general clothing items laid out, let’s talk about personalizing and styling each item. One pattern that is always a safe option for Easter Sunday is floral (which is not only appropriate, but also extremely in style right now). Floral patterns are the perfect way to welcome the spring weather as well as for dressing for success for the holiday. If patterns are not your thing, I suggest wearing lighter, more pastel-like tones. For the skirt and blouse, wear either a patterned or colored skirt and then pair it with a cream-colored or more neutral-colored top; if you put too many patterns together it can make people dizzy.

　　When choosing accessories, you want to spice up your outfit without becoming disrespectful. If you decide on heels (which most women do), make sure the heels are simple and elegant. Monochromatic patent-leather heels or neutral colored wedges are perfect for the occasion. I love jewelry, but you do not want to put on an obscene amount this upcoming Sunday. I suggest the rule of three: one necklace, one bracelet, and one ring. However, if you are wearing a high neckline, forgo the necklace and go for a bangle on one wrist and a simple chain bracelet on the other.

Thanks to Nimble Fashion, a new app created by Ole Miss students for Ole Miss students, the ladies no longer have to worry about not having a dress to wear. Instead of buying a brand new dress that one may only wear once, that person can rent it for a few days for a small fraction of the cost.Nimble is Oxford’s own Rent the Runway, but better. Whether you’re looking for a dress to borrow or wanting to make some money renting out your nice dresses that are sitting in the back of your closet, Nimble has got you covered.

How it started
About a year ago, Ole Miss senior, Sara Kiparizoska, came up with the idea to create a simple way for girls on college campuses to share their dresses with each other. She collaborated with Ole Miss Computer Science graduates William Ault, Jake Johnson and Eli Allen to create the app.
“I came up with Nimble because it was a necessity. I was going to an event and I didn’t have anything to wear! I had already worn all of my friend’s dresses and I wished that there were some way I could see inside everyone’s closet in Oxford. I mean we all know Ole Miss girls are the best-dressed girls around, and I knew someone out there had a dress I could borrow just for a night. I told William the idea, and from then on it flourished!” said Kiparizoska.

Here’s how it works

First, you download the Nimble Fashion app for free from the app store. Next, you’ll make a simple profile. Then, you’re ready to start browsing for a dress or post a dress you want to rent out! To rent out your dress, all you have to do is post a picture of it and select a price you want to charge someone to borrow it for five business days.
Kiparizoska said, “Nimble is unique because it’s the only product out there of its kind. With the emerging sharing economy, everyone has started sharing everything. Their homes, cars, books…so why not their closets? We are offering college women not only a chance to save money by borrowing a dress at a fraction of retail, we are also giving them a chance to monetize their existing wardrobe.”

Since Nimble launched in the Apple app store they have obtained over a thousand users.

Kiparizoksa explains that the goal of the app is “to revolutionize the way women shop.”

“We know you won’t wear it twice anyways, so why buy? Our goal over the next year is to expand to college campuses around the south. We are already getting a great number of request for expansion, we just need to keep up with the development,” she said.

Ole Miss students and faculty along with the people of Oxford have been supportive of this student built business.

It’s awesome- for example, we really needed a clothes rack last week and we called Jeff Johnson, the owner of Nella on the square and he was more than willing to help us.
