'No one made an effort to talk': Guests reveal what REALLY goes on behind the scenes of a Married At First Sight wedding

Hours spent sitting in the sun, dancing to no music and glasses of champagne when all you want is a coffee.

Welcome to behind the scenes of Married At First Sight Australia.

Two guests from Andy and Craig's picturesque Queenstown wedding have lifted the lid to Pedestrian TV on what really went down at the show's first same-sex wedding and, unsurprisingly, all is not as it seems.

Andy and Craig tied the knot on top of a mountain on what could only be described as a perfect day.

But with the blue skies came 30 degree heat, with guests apparently forced to sit for hours in the sun while producers filmed the ceremony four times.

Why?

So they could film it from every angle, of course.

Next came the ceremony itself, which proved to be just as dramatic off screen as it was on.

While Andy dissolved in to a fit of rage over Craig inviting his ex-boyfriend of 13 years, the guests waited, and waited, for food to arrive.

That way the reception could be filmed while the sun set, providing the perfect lighting.

Conversation was said to be stifled as many guests were wired up to microphones, and as the wedding reached its 13th hour, they were apparently longing for a coffee.

'Everyone wanted coffee, but they wanted us all to have champagne because they wanted people to have to look they were having fun,' [sic] Pedestrian TV quoted the guest as saying.

'No one made an effort to talk, the way the tables were laid out made it feel like a game show.

'We were joking that it was like 'Game Of Thrones', like we were at the red wedding.'

The final let-down was the first dance, which they performed without music.

While they did an initial take with the song, it was cut so producers could put their own music over the top later.

That being said there were perks, with guests flown to New Zealand for the televised nuptials, their accommodation and food paid for.

They were able to stay for two days extra but were confined to the hotel should they accidentally run in to other guests and somehow ruin the surprise.

The revelations came after Married At First Sight bride Monica told OK! Magazine it took three hours to film her arrival at her wedding to Mark.

The 28-year-old project manager said the wedding took so long, filming did not wrap up until 5am.

Brides from last season told similar stories of lengthy waiting times and weddings that feel like they never end.

Season two bride Simone said she was left waiting in the car before walking down the aisle, the panic slowly building.

'The car was SO hot, no air con, and I was in it for 2.5 hours!' she wrote in a comment on Instagram.

'Nothing like circling in a car for 2.5 hours, in a tight dress when you need to pee to make you look really comfortable,' fellow bride Clare Verrall also wrote.

Another season two bride, Christie, said she was violently seasick during her wedding as it was held on a boat.

Christie revealed to Mamamia that despite not being 'good with boats,' she was below deck for an hour to ensure she was shielded from her groom.

Christie said she was on the boat from 3.30pm until 12.30am, and producers told her to walk down the aisle 10 times before they got the shot they wanted.
