A WEDDING can be a stressful time, with all the organising, arranging and budgeting, but for some brides the quest for perfection can push them over the edge.

Bride-to-be Clarissa, from Essex, was so determined to host the ideal event that she ditched a bridesmaid and banned children from attending because she claimed she didn’t want to “hear crying” on the wedding video.

The 29-year-old accountant and her soon-to-be husband Tony, 29, documented the run-up to their big day on 5STAR’s documentary Badass Brides.

Despite most brides shedding the pounds before they walked down the aisle Clarissa confessed the stress caused her to “eat crap” and gain weight.

Clarissa and Tony were forced to ruthlessly cut costs after their spending spiralled out of control.

The pair shelled out £26,000 on the day, three times more than their initial £8,000 budget.

In a bid to tighten their belts the couple decided to drop the children from the guest list.

Clarissa said: “We have decided we are not having children at the wedding and people have made a big deal about it.

“But at the same time, would they pay that extra [money]? If you’ve got two children and it costs us an extra £80 to have your children, would you pay us the £160?”

But it appears Clarissa’s motivation was not just financial.

She continued: “I’ve been to a few weddings where there’s a lot of noise made by children. The kids are running around and they’re pushing people over and they don’t know what they’re doing.

“I don’t want to hear in my video me walking down the aisle with a child crying and I don’t want to be knocked over on the dance floor and I don’t want some sticky hands on my dress.

“I just feel like you’ve got to please yourself and your partner.”

The couple’s newly employed frugal approach didn’t just leave the kids out in the cold.

One of the bridesmaids had her plus one invitation revoked, but when she protested she found herself dropped from the list altogether.

Clarissa said: “Lucy is no longer my bridesmaid because we had a disagreement with her partner.

“We un-invited him to our wedding, so she said she wasn’t coming either. We did originally get on with her partner, but he caused some arguments with us that were unnecessary.

“So we decided we’re not going to pay for someone who we don’t want to be at our wedding.”

Clarissa quickly lined up a replacement bridesmaid who she insisted had no choice but to fit into the second-hand red dress originally bought for Lucy, even if it meant she had to lose weight.

But despite all the kerfuffle Clarissa did eventually get her dream wedding, the happy couple exchanged their vows in the stunning 17th century Quendon Hall in their hometown of Essex.

But Clarissa isn’t the only diva to be featured on Badass Brides, last week Aysha slammed her fiance for proposing when her ‘nails weren’t perfect’ and she was wearing UGG boots.
