Development Director to Share Fundraising Tips for Struggling Nonprofits

A local experienced philanthropist and director of development will share her fundraising experience and tips to local charities at the next nonprofit workshop on July 29th, hosted by the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center.

Clearwater, FL – The Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) Center is hosting their next nonprofit workshop on the topic of fundraising on Tuesday, July 29th at 11:00am. Heather Reuscher, the Director of Development of Hero to a Child will deliver the presentation, which will include basic fundraising ideas and her top tools and techniques. Nonprofit leaders, staff and volunteers are invited to attend at no cost. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

The topic of the workshop was chosen based on the need in the nonprofit community. According to the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, in 2018 the percentage of American households donating to charity dropped to under 50% for the first time since 2000. That same study shows that there has been a steady decline in the number of households giving back to the community, ever since the Great Recession in 2008.

Nonprofit employees also feel the pressure according to a survey by Nonprofit HR which indicated that 49% of staff plan to leave their organization, and 23% do not intend to continue working in the charity sector.

“You hear about nonprofits shutting down, stressed out staff and overall a negative attitude towards the fundraising aspect of nonprofits,” said Tracy Hawkins, the Director of the CCV Center. “There is a dire need for improvement in fundraising, and we are happy to help provide nonprofits the tools they need to make it. As humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard said, ‘A community that pulls together can make a better society for all.’”
