Clearwater, FL – The Church of Scientology and its sponsored humanitarian centers are hosting their annual 4th of July Celebration in Osceola Courtyard on Friday, July 4th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Families are invited to celebrate the holiday with a bouncy house, face painting, reptile petting zoo and more for all ages. There is no cost to attend.
With 4th of July being the holiday to recognize American freedom, the humanitarian centers along Fort Harrison Avenue are also opening their doors to educate the community on vital, societal issues: human rights, truth about drugs, morals and more. “If one person knows their rights, the truth about drugs or morals to lead a better life, that is one more person who can make a change in the community,” said Lisa Mansell, the Community Affairs Director for the Church. “Pinellas County is in need of a change.”
Recent statistics highlight this need for change. According to the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Suncoast Region (which includes Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco Counties) had the highest number of human trafficking reports in the entire state between 2023 – 2024. Pinellas County has also seen over 102,000 overdose responses by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) since 2023 and another 2,500 crimes were committed in just the last 30 days. This affects families and residents all over the county.
“Through hosting this family-friendly event for the community, we aim to also do something about the current state of society we are living in,” said Ms. Mansell. “The only way to make a change is by working together, side by side as a community. Through the Church-sponsored humanitarian centers, we are giving people the tools they need to tackle these everyday problems, which will lead to a safer and happier community for all.”
