Right Training for the Best Timber Cutting

Posted September 4, 2019 by TowieTimber

It may seem counter intuitive to cut off the highest branch of the plant, the apical branch, but this technique can really greatly favor the production of the lower branches and result in a more abundant final crop

The upper branches at the top of the plant growth have biochemicals that restrict the growth of the lower branches due to the natural behavior of the plant to grow towards the light. When we cut the tip of the upper branch, the plant redirects growth hormones to the lower lateral branches, doing the same with the supply of water and nutrients, resulting in a rapid development of these branches. The pruning technique may be the next pruning after the removal of the first young branches. It helps the grower begin the process of shaping the plant as needed and available space. From the Australian Timber Trainers Association you can now find the best solutions.

Allow plant recovery time after pruning

Coverage pruning usually coincides with the flowering start period, according to the plant cycle. Many growers begin flowering preparations soon after pruning, but the plant needs time. Cutting the upper branches at the end of the vegetative phase is not the same as cutting some shoots or small branches on the young plant. The plant will take a few days to relocate the nutrients and hormones to the side branches, about 4 to 5 days. Be aware of watering at this stage, as water is the means of transporting nutrients and hormones inside the plant, so it is essential that it does not lack. After 5 days you can start the necessary changes for flowering, such as changing light bulbs and photoperiod. Have the best choice with the Australian Timber Trainers Association now.

Do not prune during flowering

Once the plant begins to bloom, it will be a bad idea to prune it. Only old leaves should be removed at this stage. During flowering the plant is directing all its energy into the production of flowers, as this is their form of reproduction and, like every living being, plants “want” to reproduce and leave their descendants. Therefore, and to our delight, they invest heavily in flowers. Some growers believe that stress can force the plant to grow faster, but theoretically this is not true for the reasons already mentioned. So leave the plants alone at flowering time and surely you will be rewarded for it.
