1999 - The last time a team successfully chased 250+ against Pakistan in fourth innings of a Test - 369 by Australia in Hobart. In 35 instances since 2000, when teams chased 250+ against Pakistan, they lost 26 and drew eight before this win by England. Overall, this is only the fifth highest successful fourth innings chase against Pakistan.

139 - by Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes is the highest sixth wicket partnership for England in the fourth innings of a Test, surpassing 131 by Mike Gatting and Jack Richards at the SCG in Ashes 1986/87. It is also the second highest sixth wicket stand against Pakistan in the fourth innings, behind 238 by Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist in Hobart in 1999.

160 - Runs added by England after the fall of their fifth wicket. Only once before they have added more after losing their fifth wicket in a successful fourth innings run chase - 215 against Australia chasing 263 at the Oval in 1902.

33-The partnership between Buttler and Woakes lasted 33 overs and Pakistan did not bowl a single maiden in this phase. They hit 13 fours and six in their partnership of 139 which took England from 117 for 5 to 256 when Buttler was dismissed.

7 - This is the seventh instance of Pakistan losing a Test after gaining a first innings lead of 100 or more runs, three of these instances coming against England. They forfeited the Test at the Oval in 2006 and lost in Edgbaston in 2016 previously against England.

84* by Woakes is his second highest individual score in 36 Tests, after the unbeaten 137 against India at Lord's. In the 17 innings between the two knocks, Woakes managed only 197 runs at 12.31 and failed to get to the double figures in 11 of those.

7 - This is the seventh successive defeat for Pakistan in Tests outside their home and adopted home in UAE. Incidentally, their last win came in England when they beat the hosts by nine wickets at Lord's in 2018. On the other hand, this is the first win for England in the first Test of a series in six attempts (excluding one-off Test against Ireland), the last such win coming against Sri Lanka in Galle in 2018.
