Niagara Falls is undoubtedly the waterfall having the most spectacular view in North America. It is a top tourist destination for nature lovers, families, and honeymooners. Tourists can enjoy its many attractions with a Niagara Falls Tour. It is the best romantic honeymoon spot for newlywed couples. Niagara Falls is situated on the US-Canada border. It separates New York State in the USA from the province of Ontario in Canada. There are three waterfalls, together collectively called Niagara Falls. The three waterfalls are as follows:
• Horseshoe Falls
• American Falls
• Bridal Veil Falls
These three waterfalls boast the highest water flow rate on the globe. Almost every minute, six cubic feet of water flow over the Falls.
Horseshoe Falls:
Horseshoe Falls is located on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. It is the highest and longest of the three Falls at almost 175 feet high and 2600 feet wide. The name Horseshoe Falls is derived from the horseshoe shape of the waterfall, which is shaped like a large inverted “V.”
American Falls:
American Falls is about 188 feet high, a significant part of which is a pile of rocks at its base. The American Falls form part of the Niagara Falls State Park, which is the oldest state park in the US.
Bridal Veil Falls:
The smallest falls of the three waterfalls, it is 181 feet high and 56 feet wide. It is located on the American side. It is the middle waterfall and is separated from Horseshoe Falls by Goat Island and American Falls by Luna Island.
Creation Of Niagara Falls
The Falls formed almost 12,500 years ago, at the end of an ice age. As the glaciers disappeared, the ice started to melt into water and created Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
Colour:
Niagara Falls is famous for the massive volume of water flowing over, which is blue-green in colour. Naturally occurring organisms like algae and the sunlight falling on the surface of the water contribute to this unique shade. At the bottom of the Falls, the water sometimes looks brown, which is mistakenly considered to be polluted. It is caused by the erosion of clay from the bottom of Lake Erie that flows over the Falls and gets deposited around the rocks at their base.
The best time to plan Niagara Falls Tours is between mid-May and mid-September. These months are most likely to provide warm weather, blue skies and beautiful rainbows. Summers can be hot and humid, but thunderstorms are frequent.
So, plan Niagara Falls Tours with your family to have fun and make it a memorable trip of your lifetime. Enjoy!
