Tone Dermatologists is based on the vibrant south side in Chicago. This independent private practice opened its doors in 2020. The founder is an exceptional person with a passion for people and an unshakeable moral compass, while being totally invested in patient care and ethnic skin dermatology.
Dr Robinson is grounded, a respected academic and teacher, a researcher of note, as well as a reputable dermatologist, with an understanding of ethnicity and the complexity surrounding it. Often raising awareness to the discrimination in ethnic skin care, she serves as an advocate for diversity in dermatology.

In addition to pro bono work, Tone Dermatology also donates large amounts of skincare products annually to needy womans’ shelters on the south side of Chicago. When people end up in shelters due to unfortunate circumstances, something as elementary as a cleanser or moisturizer could spark hope and make them feel worthy again.
Because of the cultural diversity of the south side, Tone Dermatology has the great opportunity to reach a section of society where dermatological problems are frowned upon. The exemplary patient care puts every person at ease when visiting the practice. Being independent, they are not bound by regulations of medical insurance, their approach being a great alternative.
Practices that are insurance-based are forced to dedicate 5-15 minutes to consultations, whereas Tone Dermatologists are able to dedicate 25-35 minutes to every visit, affording the dermatologist to do an in-depth evaluation of the patient’s problem. Bookings can conveniently be made online.

Dr. Caroline Robinson, MD, FAAD, a board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist in Chicago, is the founder and owner of Tone Dermatology, a private practice established in March 2020. She is a board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist. This inclusive practice offers excellent procedures, focusing on ethnic skin dermatology, acne sequela in skin of color, cicatricial alopecias and culturally inclusive aesthetic medicine. Serving as an advocate for diversity in dermatology, Dr Robinson raises awareness to inequities in ethnic skin care, whilst being a clinical associate at the University of Chicago. As a Cornell graduate, she obtained her medical degree from the University of Louisville, with a distinction in research, and then completed her residency at Southern Illinois University. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Skin of Color Society, a committee member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.
