SideWinder Camera Plane Adjuster The Sidewinder allows customers to make fine adjustments to the camera’s sensor plane without affecting the collimation of the focuser. It is a very rigid 2-part design that features a 3 point push pull style adjustment system. It uses large solid stainless-steel adjusters that are adjusted from the side. This side adjustment system allows the CPA’s bottom and top face surfaces to be completely covered by the camera and the focuser but be fully adjustable and accessible from the edge. The Sidewinder CPA comes in all 3 sizes for the NiteCrawler focusers (WR25”, WR30”, and WR35”). Note: The Sidewinder has a male thread on one side and a female thread on the other, so it can be sandwiched between the focuser and the camera or spacer rings at any point. It threads right in to the Nitecrawler’s Drawtube. Weight is 1 lb. and it adds .8” to the profile, so please account for the extra space taken up when calculating imaging distance requirements.
Sidewinder price: WR35 $300.00 WR30 $275.00 WR25 $250.00 Small tilt errors in the sensors can now be finely adjusted to be perfectly flat. Adjustment is made at 3 points 120 degrees apart. Each location has a pair of stainless-steel push and pull adjusters. Use a smaller Allen wrench or small pin to turn the adjusters from the side. The rear focuser side stainless-steel adjuster is the pull side and the front camera side stainless-steel adjuster is the push side. Be sure that they are both moved in unison and left in a tight/snug position. About .020” of tilt/tip can be made with the Sidewinder. This configuration is extremely strong and will hold position once set. Please note: If you over tighten the 2 adjusters too much you can start to deform the large WR35 threads slightly. Deforming the threads by slightly twisting of the Sidewinder’s 2 plates can cause adapters to get stuck and not want to unthread easily. If this happens, please reducer the tension / force between the push pull adjusters. It is a good idea to familiarize with its operation / pressure before installing it on the NiteCrawler.
QHY90A mono camera with Filter Wheel and OAG
KAF8300 is one of the most popular CCD sensor among the amateur astrophotographer community as it its the sweet spot between number of pixels, size of pixels, sensitivity, noise performance and price. Following the success of the QHY9 series, QHYCCD redesigns KAF8300 CCD camera with several advanced features serious astrophotographers would appreciate.
QHY90A embeds a motorised 7 positions 36mm filter wheel and a low profile off-axis guider into one camera body. This reduces the thickness of the camera assembly which could mean day and night for telescope system with very stingy back focus allowance.
Moisture is not an issue with the built in optics window heater. The CCD chamber is also airproof and filled with argon gas. An air socket is also available for use with the bundled removable silicon gel tube for drying the air in the CCD chamber.
The built in USB ports and RS232 ports are aerospace grade which are extremely robust. With just a single 12VDC 2.1mm cable and a USB cable, you can power up the whole camera as well as auxiliary equipment such as autoguiding camera, dew heater strap and other accessories. Less cables, less troubles.
