Rolling can be classified in to mainly two mechanism based on the temperature use, they areHot rolling andCold rolling.

This differentiation is based on the temperature of the material and the default recrystallization temperature of the same material. Although it is classified in to only two methods, the process and machineries varies greatly. There are different roll forming machine based on the properties of material needed as a product.

The main difference in selection of machines is due to the thickness and length of the product. The number of rollers required, their separation, speed and everything is based on the product properties. There is also difference in machineries based on the type of materials used. For example an iron roll forming machine is used for making iron plates, manufacturers use different machineries like IBR roll forming machine for steel roofing sheets.

Rolling is used in industries making different metal products. From aluminium coils, to roofing sheets the production always includes rolling machines. The main difference in these mechanisms is in the arrangement of the machineries used. A number of rollers and the application of pressure are all the same in each process.

A place or factory where the rolling process is called as mills. A rolling mill is sometimes also called as reduction mill. In traditional mills the rolling is done in several steps, but with increase in technology there are successive production mill called as tandem mills. In tandem mills there will be multiple stands, this helps in production of multiple sheets on the same time.

Rolling is an important step and has to be done to the full perfection. If not carefully done there are chances for defect in the final product which will adversely affect the quality. When carefully done, high quality product can be manufactured today in a fast pace.
The rollers are selected and are being given separation based on the thickness needed for the final product. There are lot of techniques and machineries used for rolling.
