How to Build an Emotional Support System

Posted March 30, 2022 by thehealingspacecounsellingbc

Having an emotional support system is important for your healing journey. Recovering from mental health problems should not be done on your own.

You have better chances of getting better when you have a strong support system around you.

But many people don’t immediately have a support system. Here are some of the things that can help you out:
1. Join social media groups.

There are social media groups that provide extra support for those who need them. It can be helpful to hear what others who have been through what you are going through talk about their experiences. You can reach out to people all over the world and hear more about their stories. It can help bolster your own confidence.

2. Get help from Surrey mental health services.

There’s nothing wrong with seeking external help, even from Mental Health services in Surrey such as The Healing Space. You can seek counselling, which can help you gain more clarity over your situation. Your counsellor can also recommend some treatment strategies that can help you overcome your mental struggles.

3. Talk to your family members.

Reach out to your loved ones. Many people tend to withdraw from society when they suffer from mental stress but talking to your trusted family members and even friends can help reduce your mental load.

It also helps to find an outlet for your emotions. You can try journaling or painting. These activities are calming and can benefit those who are suffering from depression and anxiety.
