The Freedom Hunt – a treasure hunt on a bicycle

This Independence Day was celebrated with a difference by The Freethinking School, Koramangala. For the very first time, an exciting treasure hunt took place on bicycles and over 25 enthusiastic teams competed in this fun event. The event was held in association with the professional cycling group “Bums on the Saddle” and Bethany High.

Each team comprised of 2 members and the participants had to bring their own cycles. Anybody above 10 years of age could participate and the teams had some really interesting combinations such as father and son, friends of different age groups and even an all girl team. Participants were given the first clue at The Freethinking School, Koramangala and had to start cracking them as fast as possible in order to be the winners. Clues comprised of prominent locations in and around Koramangala and the event culminated with the prize distribution and a grand Independence Day celebration at Bethany High.

To ensure the utmost safety of the participants, a safety car, an ambulance and a host of volunteers were assigned to keep the event running smoothly. The participants were also served breakfast and refreshments as a part of this event.

¬ Chirag Singhal one of the participants had this to say about the event “I am so glad that I could attend it. Best Independence Day in my 20 years of life. Thanks a lot :)”

Mr. Akash Ryall, Director Bethany Institutions gave away some very exciting prizes that included watches worth Rs.10,000, gift hampers from Cookie Man and vouchers from Sapna Book House and Haase. The first prizewinners were Rishab and Satya, followed by Siva and Raj both a father and son team. The only girls team of Likhitha and Sagarika took home the 7th position and took away a whole lot of freethinking goodies.

Asked about the reason behind choosing a cycling treasure hunt as an event for Independence Day Mr. Sunoj Philip, Founder The Freethinking School had this to say. “The idea behind this event was to bring together the entire community to celebrate Independence Day together. When you ride a cycle it gives you a sense of freedom and the treasure hunt captures the spirit of adventure.
This is also the essence of The Freethinking School where our aim is to engage our communities, to help everyone learn something new everyday, create wow experiences for all and inspire people to follow their passions”.

Looking at the overwhelming response, The Freethinking School plans to make The Freedom Hunt an annual event from the following year at a much bigger scale.
