Renewable Heat Incentive and its importance

Posted July 31, 2014 by tgreendel

In this busy world, nowadays the energy by each and every individual is been consumed in a very huge manner.

In the month of March 2011, the UK Government very proudly announced the details of their Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which is specifically designed in order to provide the most needed financial support that encourages the individuals, various communities and the businesses to switch from using the fossil fuel for heating, to the renewable such as the wood fuel. Non-domestic installations can claim the RHI now for any of the installations commissioned on or after 15 July 2009. The installations that are very much eligible for the RHI include:

• The Biomass boilers

• The Solar Thermal

• The Heat pumps

Applications of RHI

Applications opened on 28 November in the year 2011 for the RHI and must be made to Of gem. Here you go: http://www.greendealit.com. They will also make quarterly payments to the owner of the installation of the required set-ups.

For the domestic installations, the householder, or owner, of the installation will be able to rightly claim the RHI early 2013. In the meantime, the Renewable Heat Premium Payment can be well accessed for the eligible householders. This is a relatively small grant (available through a voucher) towards the various purchases and the installation of the solar thermal panels, the heat pumps and also the biomass boilers which all have their major significant uses. Any of the householders can particularly claim this money for solar thermal installation. However, only the houses without the mains gas can legally claim the grant for the biomass or the heat pumps. Note that this grant has very recently been extended to 31 March 2013. The householders claiming this particular grant can also access the RHI when it becomes available to them hopefully around this time.

Green Deal

Green Deal is indeed a new government initiative which is well designed in order to help meet the upfront cost of making your home more energy efficient. Launched in the year 2012, the Green Deal allows the householders to install some extremely efficient energy-efficiency measures and also pay for the various improvements with the savings on their fuel bill. Although they will repay the cost over the course of time, this is not a very conventional personal loan as the charge is well attached to the meter and paid back through their fuel bill. If they move the house, the idea is that the new occupant will be liable to pick up the outstanding loan while also benefiting from a more energy-efficient property in a great way.

Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA)

The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) Scheme is also very well aimed at the various UK businesses allowing them to claim the 100% first year capital allowances on the investments in the energy saving technologies and the various products, including some of the renewable energy technologies. The businesses are able to write off the whole cost of their investment against their overall taxable profits of the period during which they make the particular investment. The Government’s energy technology lists promote the various products that literally encourage the sustainable energy use and also reward the businesses for very efficiently investing in them through the ECA Scheme.
