Dr. Terran Jordan returns to Elizabeth City to lead a STEM drone workshop at ECSU, teaching high schoolers about aviation, crisis response, and leadership. The session connects STEM education to real-world impact in emergency management.

Dr. Terran R. M. Jordan, an accomplished alumna of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), is returning to her hometown to lead a dynamic two-day STEM workshop for high school students. Hosted at ECSU’s FAA Aviation Workforce Development/National Summer Transportation Institute on July 17–18, 2025, the hands-on session is titled “Drone Dynamics: Engineering Precision for Aviation and Emergency Response.” Students will explore drone flight, aviation systems, and emergency response technologies that connect classroom concepts to real-world applications.

Through this experience, students will learn the fundamentals of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), aerodynamics, and the use of drones in disaster response. The program blends science, technology, and leadership, helping students see the relevance of STEM in both career and crisis situations. Participants will also engage in simulated emergency missions that build both technical and critical thinking skills.

Dr. Jordan is the founder of Million Dollar STEM & Leadership Academy, LLC, based in Atlanta, Georgia. As a STEM Certified™ Master Trainer and Certified Emotional Intelligence Life Coach, she brings over eight years of experience in disaster recovery, having managed FEMA Public Assistance projects following Hurricane Maria. Her work has helped secure millions in federal reimbursement for affected communities, and she continues to mentor the next generation of STEM leaders nationwide.

To expand her impact, Dr. Jordan recently launched the Dr. Terran Jordan International Excellence in Leadership, STEM & Emergency Management Scholarship through Bold.org. This award supports high-achieving underrepresented Black students pursuing education in STEM, leadership, or emergency management fields. During the ECSU workshop, she will also distribute branded emergency preparedness backpacks and free STEM-themed literacy books.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Jordan is collaborating with ECSU’s Mobile STEM Lab Initiative to strengthen local STEM outreach. Her efforts align with the Million Dollar STEM Academy’s national literacy campaign, which aims to reach one million underserved youth with access to books and real-world learning tools.

“This is about giving back to the community that shaped me,” said Dr. Jordan. “I want students to know they can become leaders, innovators, and change-makers starting right where they are.”
