You know why professional billiard players spend so much on their shoes? It is because they need to stand on their feet for hours and they want total comfort doing that. It is true that even a slight discomfort in our feet causes a lot of physical and mental pains. Our legs are in constant use throughout the day and we need them to be in top shape so that we can move about with ease. Problems like fungal nails and plantar fasciitis can be painful and irritating. Getting them treated must be on top priority and thanks to specialists one doesn’t need to go under the knife all the time.

Fungal nails can be quite painful and embarrassing too. It is an infection that can be caused by fungi, moulds and yeast. The nail itself doesn’t pain because it has no nerves but intense pain can be caused on the skin around the nail and the part of your foot beneath the nail. As a result of the infection the nail gets discoloured and can turn yellow or black. The nail plate can become disorderly and the nail itself gets detached from its bed.

Since nails have the property of regeneration some people leave fungal nails just like that. After a while the affected portion of the nail gets pushed to the front by fresh growth of nail and then it can be cut using a nail cutter. But this is not at all recommended because an infected nail can cause other infections too. At times the area around the nail becomes swollen and this can cause immense pain.

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the planter fascia and it can happen to many people. Commonly known as “policeman’s heel” this condition can be found among those that spend long time bearing weights or those people that have a high BMI.

The plantar fascia is the thick band of connective tissue starting from the bottom surface of the heel bone and continuing along the sole of the foot towards the toes. The fibres that make up plantar fascia are completely rigid, meaning they cannot be stretched at all. When someone suffers from plantar fasciitis the plantar fascia pulls at the area under the heel. As a result there is an inflammation caused and if left untreated for a long time the body naturally forms a spur so that the attachments can come close together. While the spur is painless the pulling on the area under the heel can be quite painful.

In both the cases of fungal nails and plantar fasciitis surgery is not opted for right in the beginning. The professional treating the condition will try out medicines, massage therapies, stretching, splints and various other forms of therapies to take care of the issues. It is only in the most extreme cases that surgery is done.

Don’t leave fungal nails and plantar fasciitis just like that because of the discomfort and pain. Get these treated by an experienced podiatrist so that you can walk without pain.
