One in eight Middle Tennesseans, including one in seven children, struggle with hunger daily. September was Hunger Action Month and Nashville radio station 95.5 NASH ICON, in partnership with Mark Spain Real Estate, put together a food drive to help families in need.

The drive-thru food drive raised more than two tons of food—4,064 pounds—for the Second Harvest Food Bank, which was equivalent to $3,386 in meals. Held throughout September, 95.5 listeners could either drop off donations at a drive-thru or donate via the link on the radio station’s website.

“We were founded by focusing on people over transactions,” explained Mark Spain Real Estate President John Makarewicz. “We were honored to be a partner in this food drive for the Second Harvest Food Bank serving greater Nashville.”
