The climate of a school plays a very important role in the achievement of the student. Undeniably, the principals are the most important factor in setting the climate of the school. The style of the principal’s leadership impact the school climate as their leadership style impacts a high quality educational environment. It sets the tone for the school’s environment that further leads to increased student achievement. After all, the student achievement is everyone’s utmost priority. It makes it important to identify the leadership styles of the principals that positively affect the climate.

The principals need to be highly cognizant of leadership styles or behaviors that enhance the climate of the school. They need to embrace those styles that help the assistant principals to perceive as a positive influence on the school climate. After all, both are highly critical to the leadership processes of the school. The leadership types of the principals include formal, informal, assumed, assigned, autocratic, democratic, team, dispersed, shared collaborative, servant, primal, and contrarian leadership.

The principals exhibiting the leadership styles must have a sense of vision, personal charisma and an ability to set the goals and plan. Apart from the effective relationship and empathy skills, these principals must have the ability to motivate and influence others. Indeed, the climate within the school is of the utmost importance as it has a great influence on the success of the teachers as well as the students.

Receiving the dissertation of the Year Award for “Determining the Relationship of Principal’s Leadership Styles (Transformational, Transactional, and Laissez-Faire) on Teacher Job Satisfaction at Various Career Stages”, Tawfik Adams completed his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Bowie State University.

Talking about his professional experience, Tawfik Adams possessed the vast knowledge and skills to formerly serve as the Assistant Principal at Bladensburg High School.
