Standard format is Smart Verbatim which is where the transcriber will remove all the “um’s”, “ah’s” and “erm’s” and also remove phrases such as “OK”, “Right”, “I see”, and so on, which do not provide any value.

Alternatively, there is a choice of Full Verbatim which includes all the “erm’s” and “ah’s” etc., along with added information such as (laughter), (applause), (interruptions), and so on.

In addition, both Smart Verbatim and Full Verbatim can be time coded. This means that each minute of time will be entered in the transcript such as (13 minutes), (14 minutes), and so on, in order that the client can easily refer to any point in the audio at will. In addition, if there is a word which is inaudible or difficult to understand, the transcriber will note that as well, such as (7 minutes, 23 seconds).
