When it comes to teaching a child, the one thing that Dolphin Day Nursery Daventry continues to refine is the idea that development is about each child growing at their own pace. In order to provide a nurturing Child Day Care Daventry experience, children need to go on a personal journey that is full of development stage-relevant stimulation and opportunities to grow at their own pace.
Children at Dolphin Day Nursery go through a series of age-specific environments, from the baby and toddler Starfish Room (0-2s), to the Seahorse Room (2-3s), to the pre-school Mermaid Room (3-5s) and then on to the Dolphin Out of School Club, or Dolphins for short (4-11s). Key to the method employed at the Dolphin Day Nursery is a period of transition, when for a few weeks the children from a lower level or room visit the next phase.
As the children go through the planned daily activities in each room, the team makes regular observations in a number of key areas. They track and log these observations on the Eylog system, which has been implemented as an electronic record of each child’s development, allowing quick and easy access to internal capture, discussion and monitoring by the professional team. It also provides a means of keeping parents involved and informed by email, with the ability to send photo’s, video and voice files.
One of the key development areas is that of well-being and involvement. The child’s well-being is of paramount importance to the team at the Dolphin Day Nursery. Each child has its own well-being pack where they draw pictures of themselves, and have their height and weight measured at regular intervals.
Creative development is also high on the list of priorities. Textures, colors, smells, and sounds are introduced in varying ways in the different stages of development. The toddlers are surrounded by different colors and textures and materials and encouraged to simply take in all that surrounds them, while as they grow the children are encouraged to sing, dance, make models and collages and explore the outdoors much more.
The children go on a journey of personal, social and emotional involvement and development at different stages too. As toddlers, the children learn their routine with the other children, and experience a variety of emotions. In the Seahorse Room (2-3s) their self-confidence, self-esteem, self-control and self-care are nurtured and at the same time they are encouraged to form relationships with others. This is further developed in the Mermaid Room (3-5s) where a focus on positive behavior and self-control are matched with interaction among peers and with adults.
At Dolphin Day Nursery, physical development is equally important to communication, language, numeracy and literacy skills. Along with problem solving and reasoning skills, these areas are all part of the development journey of each child. As each child progresses through each room, and each stage of development, they are exposed to increasingly complex and rich tasks, stimuli and games they take part in. Outdoors and indoors, the children are always learning and growing, and always having fun in a structured, monitored and responsible way.
Dolphin Day Nursery Daventry provides a deep and carefully refined set of learning opportunities and environments that are age and learning stage-relevant. They have been providing the highest quality of Child Day Care Daventry parents have come to know, trust and continue to enjoy, since 2006.
