Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is the only technology available that doesn’t either require direct connection to a utility, nor does it rely on electromagnetic radiation from a utility. As more and more buried services are increasingly using non-magnetic materials, GPR is the best answer when it comes to locating them.

The Mala Easy Locator revolutionised the utility location business and now Mala has produced the HDR (High Dynamic Range) Easy Locator which is even easier to use, is faster, and produces cleaner data with more detail. Furthermore, it can also produce data at as much as 20% greater depth than other tools. The new HDR Easy Locator looks similar to its predecessor and does indeed keep many of its’ features and functions, yet the user interface is even more simple and clearer than before. The actual data produced is of top quality, and the new HDR can run continuously now for 14 hours. It also includes a built-in DGPS receiver which makes the positioning of identified utilities easier.

What is good news for new purchasers of the Mala HDR is that the company has kept the price level at the same as the earlier model, which was, and still is, well below that of competitive products.

The Mala HDR is a one-piece unit and it has a folding handle which means that it can be easily transported to site in the back of an estate car. All of the sensitive parts of the HDR are contained in a robust aluminium casing and protected from the weather and any rough handling that might occur during transport. The monitor has excellent readability even in direct sunlight, so can work in all weathers.
