Fierce competition calls for new and radical approach to attract attention and customers and one of the best ways to do it is through use of Signage!

Bold, stand-out, colourful and imaginative signages always attract customers. Here are a few tips for choosing the best signage solutions for your business.

Tip # one: Go for high-impact rather than simply flooding the town. You will want to ensure your signage is really imaginative, eye-catching, and memorable and that the message and the call for action is clear. People who need the product or service must feel the pull to go buy it. Those who don't need your product or service immediately, should be able to recall your ad when they need the product.

Tip # 2: Use a skilled designer. We've seen too many business owners doodle something on a paper, take it to the Signage company; and say, “Here, this is what I want”.

Here's a super-secret Signage tip that no one will tell ya; angle your advert to face the traffic so it can be read. Therefore, visit each physical location where the signage will be placed, take a couple of pictures of the traffic and show them to the Signage company. Each individual signage should be tweaked for maximum impact least people just zoom past your advert without giving it a second look.

Tip # 3: Don't complicate your signage with too much content. Keep it simple and use high contrast.
Remember, folks driving past have just a couple of seconds to soak it in so make it easy for them! White and dark colours work best. You'll be amazed at how many lemon yellow billboard with white letters are out there – impossible to read!

Tip # 4: Use the correct Typeface. The font you choose should reflect the character and message of your product, service or brand. You can use fancy fonts for very very short messages. A one-sentence message needs a simple font so the focal point remains the message. Don't use more than two typefaces or your message will be impossible to read.

Tip # 5: Make it visible 24 x 7. A signage that is not visible in the day (or night) is not giving you value for money. Here's another secret tip; if using neon lighting, avoid blue – it is very difficult to read anything in blue lightning.

Tip # 6: Drive around town and observe existing signages. When your Signage Company designs your signage, make sure it is different and hard-hitting or it will be lost amongst the existing clutter.

Tip # 7: Graphically innovative. We’ve seen a grand piano cut-out on a store sign selling pianos. We've seen a huge polished brass kettle placed on top of a cafe signage and actually belching steam through the spout. The signage had the words “Tea and Coffee - the way mama makes it”.

Tip # 8: A huge signage for a transport company that displays an animated truck is high-impact. Movement attracts attention. The movement itself should be as innovative as possible; a scarf placed around the neck of the model and flapping in the wind. But be sure the movement or animation gels well with your message and your product or service because we see quite a few animated Custom Flags that were counter-productive.

Always use expert help and it doesn't get any better than Sydney City Signs (http://sydneycitysigns.com.au/ ). Remember buying expert advice is far cheaper than paying for Signages that make no impact.
