If you want to store canned items in your pantry, the shelves must be spaced closer together than it should be when they are shelving boxed goods. The rule of thumb in arranging the shelves in your pantry is that you should maintain no more that 3 inches gap in between levels of the shelves. Your overall goal is to maintain order while utilizing all available storage space in your pantry.

Another answer may be to add a door rack attached to your pantry door. The space at the back of the door is actually one of the most overlooked spaces in the pantry. You can also apply the same principle when assessing the space utilization inside each of your cabinets. You will be surprised at the amount of space that is available inside these cabinets. Look out for empty spots and try to rearrange the items inside the cabinets. You can use drawers or shelves to maximize the use of available space. You can also add cabinet racks just like what you did with your pantry door.

There are other practical space solutions that may also be considered when you are looking for available space in your kitchen. The key to proper space utilization is to create additional space from what is presently available. A tiered corner shelf can be used in order to create an additional storage space for cookbooks and other knickknacks. You can also add furniture inside the pantry which can have a practical and aesthetic purpose. There are a lot of ways of looking for available space in your pantry. All you need is a little bit of imagination and creativity.
