If you are in a canoe that is sinking, you don't pout and quit bailing just because other people aren't helping. You might feel justified to sit there and do nothing because "Well, why should I be doing most of the work...!", but you will still end up under water along with everyone else. So, when you notice the water around your ankles, pick up the bucket and start bailing out the canoe.
Keep that going, and then get others to help.

In a larger boat, the situation may seem less immediate. It may, indeed, start off more slowly. But it will escalate, if measures are not taken, and a small leak will become a flood. Just think of our beautiful planet as a boat in the sea of space. It is not a new image being presented here. It is a vital image, still. Those of us who can bail, must keep bailing.
