This representation by Tampa City Ballet has an urban magic and the choreography mixes the need for the use of masks from that time, which now are a reflection of current events, right now in a time of a global pandemic.

The City Tampa Ballet Ballet is in the midst of shooting a short film as part of a historical trilogy about Ybor City in Tampa, a city little known worldwide that holds historical secrets and charms. It focuses around the largest tobacco factories from the beginning of the 20th century, and the community that grew there.

Where through contemporary dance the dancers represent a history of workers in the tobacco factories as they dealt with the Influenza or Spanish Flu of the time. It was considered the most devastating pandemic in the history of humanitysince it killed millions of people among the 20 to 40 million inhabitants of this planet.
They recreated the dance scenes within the historic Ybor Square Courtyard, one of the city's largest historical buildings and tobacco factories. It has been completely restored by the Church of Scientology of Tampa so that the community and tourists can enjoy it and observe history up close.

This representation by the dance company has an urban magic and the choreography mixes the need for the use of masks from that time, which now are a reflection of current events, right now in a time of a global pandemic.
