We, as humankind, have formalized our spirituality into rituals and religions throughout our history. We like to have a sense of shared livingness with the people around us. Some awareness or knowledge that joins us into a more unified whole. There is comfort in these doctrines and behaviors. We know what to expect of one another, and how to respond when someone seems way too far astray. Every religion has days of celebration and many cultures celebrate these in different ways. This can be pleasant or not. We can choose to be enriched by the differences.

Nowadays there is such an ease of communication, and even with a pandemic there is physical mobility and access to the world so that ideas and behaviors intermix among cultures. This can be enjoyable and fun.

We are exposed to varied ideas and beliefs that have brought to life unfamiliar rituals and behaviors. Underlying these are the basic and essential truths of our mutual humanity. They can be very beautiful. At the very least,we can find that common reality of existence among us. We are the human race. When we are out with our mask covered faces, we can look at each other and smile. And we can keep in our minds and our hearts, a place for the acknowledgement of differences.
