Persons of Goodwill, Human Rights

All work toward true human rights is welcome and of incalculable value. But this actor is a true Crusader, and the first recipient of a truly significant award. It is my opinion that he was the inspiration for that award.

This is as personal as anything I have ever written. It is about purpose and depth; depth of caring , depth of judgement. It is about vision and breadth, breadth of understanding, breadth of prediction. And duty, it is about that simple but vast concept, duty. This is about a person of goodwill.

A friend of mine is a very fine actor, and is a very handsome man. But as all of us know, this in no way guarantees success in an acting career. He had worked hard to achieve a nice degree of financial stability and artistic success, living through the uncertainties, hardships, and flat out invalidations that attend the journey.

He lived well, pursued his dreams and worked toward his own spiritual expansion. He acknowledged his truth publicly, even though it could have slowed down his career. He was at a point of major expansion in his career, which would have resulted in greater financial rewards and greater fame, when he was called to act publicly in a human rights matter.

He took up the banner and the sword. He spent his personal fortune. He let roles and opportunities fall by the wayside. It was necessary. It was vital. It was at a turning point in our fight too keep the United States , and thus the world, progressing toward greater freedom.

That was approximately thirty-five years ago.

He continues to be vigilant and take up the sword when needed. He always flies the banner. He has also continued in more quiet and unseen ways to daily work toward greater freedom for us all.

I am writing this today because another, newer friend attempted to lessen my regard for this actor. My newer friend is a businessman, and also a good soul. The businessman thinks that the actor is on a different "side". In trying to win my agreement, he tried to have me think less of the actor; that volume of dollars was a higher measure of value than the day to day creation that comes with moving individuals to contribute on their own terms. There was little respect shown for the vision, intelligence, heart and duty that comes when following the greater needs.

All work toward true human rights is welcome and of incalculable value. But this actor is a true Crusader, and the first recipient of a truly significant award. It is my opinion that he was the inspiration for that award.

This is my application of this datum, "Factually, the society runs on men and women of good will.", L. Ron Hubbard.
