Normal in the Time of Coronavirus

What is normal, anyway? We create our future by our everyday choices. Choose kindness.

Hazy, hot and humid, cooler at the shore with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. That statement is the traditional summer weather forecast anywhere along the East Coast of the US. At least something seems normal. The regular normal, not some new and scary normal. Still, the human spirit infuses life with joy as babies are born, and grandparents are created, witnessing life carried forward. There is a smile that only a grandmother ever smiles. Normal.

Music is played in concert with others on a virtual stage where the visual can look a bit like an animated patchwork quilt inside a screen. Church services are being held like drive-in movies, where one can at least wave to someone else in fellowship aftwards. Art galleries are now online affairs and we Zoom to meetings from the sofa, not in the car or on the subway. New normal. Normal in the time of Coronavirus. What will future normal look like? That depends on us. We can choose kindness, creativity and joy. "True excitement, happiness and joy come from other things, not from broken lives.", L.
