We honor Martin Luther King, Jr. for non-violent effectiveness in the face of great hatred and opposition.

Soon many Americans will take a moment from regular life to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

He was a great catalyst for change in the history of the United States. He helped change the world for a good many people, and the use of peaceful resistance changed thought in America. These tactics insist thata person, group of people, a culture, LOOK and see what is there; what is being done.  It also asks that those being wrongeddo not use violent force, even in the face of violence used against them.  This is very difficult and requires a higher level of awareness and discipline. It comes from a recognition of truth. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.", Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great leader and a great man. He was a good example of "To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength. To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness. And may very well be the the greatest secret in this universe.", L. Ron. Hubbard.

Along with everything else he he achieved, he exemplified L. Ron Hubbard's statement, "The way to happiness requires that one set a good example for others."  This, alone, is monumental.
