It Is The Season of Joy Even in 2020

Sharing joy will bring a community together and brighten a dark time.

The chill is hitting the air even in Florida and places are shining with lights and colors striving for joy in the dragging on days of Coronavirus. This year we are creating with extra intention to light up the nights, both actual and proverbial. After the restrictions and confusions of varying degrees of lockdown, stay-at -home, quarantine or what ever else which are intelligently or haphazardly or stringently regulated and enforced, there is perhaps more abandon in the stringing of the lights. There is most certainly a greater appreciation for those who started with the lights well ahead of Thanksgiving in the US. I imagine it is similar around the world, with reasons to celebrate being fully indulged.

One of the best ways to celebrate is with acts of kindness to others. The small gestures add up, like in toy drives, or canned food drives, where individuals and communities gather to help and create a seasonal flourishing of the spirit. Maybe a smile drive with the aim of getting people to smile big enough behind their masks that everyone feels it. The first response of my search engine, when asked for an etymology of "prosperity" says "joy, approbation, success". The word "approbation" first meant "proof" and then"official recognition or approval". There is more than one way to prosper. So in this season, let the joy behind prosperity shine!
