This is April. It is Spring. We are in the season of rebirth and spiritual freedom. We are in the season of escape from tyranny, from slavery, from mortal flesh.
The celebration of stepping beyond. But, beyond what? Beyond the reach of political tyranny, holding enslaved the body of the individual and thus the people. Beyond the flesh, as the spirit is seen free of the tomb.
It is this freedom of being beyond the grasp of enforced servitude, that allows us to step into responsible action. To say that I am doing this; I chose that; The consequences are my own,
is an action that only a free being can take.
This simple ability poses a threat to those who wish to control their fellows toward a personal end. This simple ability to say that I am; I am free; I create, is our true heritage.
It is how the enslaved Jews could take advantage of the weakened state of the Egyptians.
It is a freedom Jesus demonstrated for us on Easter Sunday.
The certainty that we are not our body is our most powerful tool. It has been employed to withstand torture. It has been used to flourish and create while imprisoned. It has allowed enslaved peoples to develop cultures.
This does not lessen the evil of those who enslave, whether by outright ownership, or more subtle forms like colonialism. They act from their own fear, their own greed, their own criminality. Clearly with no certainty of themselves as spiritual beings.
We look to the religions of the world to lift us toward faith and certainty. "'Faith' and 'belief'
do not necessarily surrender to logic: they cannot even be declared to be illogical. They can be things quite apart.", L. Ron Hubbard.
And so it is that we safeguard all religions to safeguard our freedom.
