30 August 2019, Dorian threatens Florida. With the uncertainty that is a hurricane, Floridians all over the state scramble to Board up, stock up, and batten down.

In Miami, Tampa and Orlando this preparation is done with the assistance of volunteers in yellow shirts, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers. If the storm heads farther west, Clearwater will be on that list. In the two years since Hurricane Irma, these volunteers have responded to Hurricanes Florence and Michael as well as to the giant fires in California, as well as calamities around the world. This means they are in action and ready to help again. This begins wth preparation, the boarding up of windows so glass doesn't fly. The effort spent to minimize damage is well spent.

The volunteer community is coordinated through a system of VOADS and COADS. These acronyms mean: Voluntary Agencies Active in Disasters, and Community Agencies Active in Disasters. Churches of Scientology Disaster Response is a member in these entities from National VOAD on down to our local COADs. We are proud to serve.
