The excitement has started. The beaches will open on Monday! This is the Gulf coast of Florida and it will be May before we can legitimately put our feet in the sand. The locals are impatient, and making plans. Not that we have been totally reclusive. As the news became less dire many Floridians took to walking and biking, kayaking and boating in greater numbers, all healthfully social distanced, with many of us in at least masks. The sunsets along the Gulf of Mexico are glorious, and a perfect antidote for that sense of mild claustrophobia or ennui.

As the world comes back into physical interaction, and we are out and about, even if we can't touch very much, the hustle and bustle will start to return. We will get back into the more driven rhythm of hauling our bodies from place to place, primped, pressed and dressed for the occasions. We will resume diving carpools, and creating temporal miracles by getting three kids to three different activities in three different parts of town after school on Wednesdays. Is this really creating the future that we, as human beings, really want? Perhaps a quality of life with just a little more time to breathe and be silly, and sing to each other across distances in person and over the wires, should be kept from this experience of Corona Lockdown and held dear.
