International Women's Day March 8, started in 1917 when women first gained the right to vote. It became an international celebration in 1967 when the United States started to celebrate the day.

 
International Women's Day March 8, started in 1917 when women first gained the right to vote. It became an international celebration in 1967 when the United States started to celebrate the day. It was a woman who started for all of humanity the initiative to establish human rights on the world wide stage. As president of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights United, Eleanor Roosevelt was the driving force that in 1948 created the declaration of freedoms that will always be this legacy: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. “Freedom demands a lot from every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person reluctant to grow, the person who does not want to assert his own importance, it is a frightening prospect."- Eleanor Roosevelt, US Delegate before the United Nations.
