2020, Hygiene, Coronavirus, 2021- We Will See

We take care of one another as we walk into the future by using hygiene. Who would have thought?

It is one of those mornings when there are reports to be done and sent by deadline. There were statistics to be gathered and the results of the week reckoned with, and plans made for the future week, weeks, months... This is December and there are plans to be put in place to smoothly transition into 2021. Yes. This is December of 2020. Oh for crying-out-loud! I am laughing out loud in truth, at just the sheer relief that a change of numerals can make. I am pretty sure our current Coronavirus is not paying any attention at all to the mechanisms we use to measure time; to mark temporal boundaries, if you will. Political lines drawn on maps or dates written on calendars are not part of the evolved geographical and biological systems of life and livingness.
We employ these boundaries to try to impose some order and control. We are using time and place to control, to some degree, the movement of our populations, and thus the movement of Coronavirus across the world, and thereby protect ourselves as a race.

The other, more immediately applicable on an individual level, means of control we have is HYGIENE. Perhaps, if more of us had followed the basic laws of germ control, like: covering your mouth with a tissue or handkerchief when you cough, and washing your hands when you come in from outside and after going to the bathroom, and certainly right before preparing or eating food. But, well, we got lazy or complacent or something. And now we need to use heightened precautions and we need to start from the basics and add the wearing of masks and the wearing of gloves, correctly, please, and social distancing and the limiting of group sizes. It does help limit spread. The key word is limit, since true isolation of the infection is difficult to achieve. The best way to go about using hygiene correctly is the Stay Well campaign. It can be found on line, and a step by step how-to is offered on the Volunteer Ministers website. As L. Ron Hubbard said, "Something can be done about it."
