After a successful training period with the United States Air Force that involved exemplary service as an army reserve, Steven Siejkowski became an Instructor and Aircraft Commander.

Steven Siejkowski spent a very successful period at the McGuire Air Force base as a United States Air Force Reserve. As someone who came prepared and did well during both the written and practical examinations, it was only a matter of time before he earned his new status. As an aircraft commander – called pilot in command on civilian airlines – he is primarily responsible for the operation and safety of his crew.

This includes instructing pilots on global airlift and tactical decisions involving the Boeing C-17A military aircraft. It is also the commander’s responsibility to provide tactical support during local and international air land missions, where military airplanes play a crucial part in the outcome of the events. In order to be able to execute these crucial military assignments, the crew have to be on the same page at all times.

The Aircraft commander was responsible for his crew and their collective ability to provide swift, tactical support during combat missions. This required being a leader and showing a demeanor that reflected a mentally strong soldier with great leadership skills, and created the atmosphere required to handle very important presidential and DOD tasks. As the commander of the aircraft, Steven Siejkowski was required to maintain a highly professional conduct that included efficient mission preparation based on strict military standards, and expert technical skills.

The Aircraft Commander had to possess a deep understanding of the plane’s technical equipment, and he needed to be able to instruct the crew members in an efficient and productive way, especially during combat situations involving in-flight refueling, one of the most complex and dangerous military aviation maneuvers. As the Aircraft Commander, the additional roles of Steven Siejkowski included being responsible for six junior Officers and two enlisted personnel. As their direct superior, he was tasked with taking on a diverse mentorship role and offering them guidance through their military career, helping them to progress in the ranks.

The role of the Aircraft Commander comes with its own set of responsibilities, duties that Steven Siejkowski was happy to fulfill.
