How to choose the right gun light

The necessary accessories for effective use of firearms are not limited to various mechanical or optical sights. Gun lights also play an important role.

We often say that “demand brings creativity.” Nowadays, it is not only the military pistol that has a gun light, nor is it the only military rifle that is equipped with a laser sight. With the display of their functions, these optoelectronic devices have gradually become standard accessories for all firearms.

Laser gun lights can help law enforcement officials identify targets, and we all know that identifying targets is the key to weapon use. Shootouts under the most ideal conditions are a luxury, and more realistically, they will encounter obstacles such as low light, sand, rain and snow. We will need all the equipment written in textbooks to escort ourselves so that we can return home safely after work.

The necessary accessories for effective use of firearms are not limited to various mechanical or optical sights. Gun lights also play an important role.

Rejection of “cold function”

For the choice of lighting equipment-gun lights, my philosophy is simple: “Choose the task required, reject the ‘cold function'”. After all, there are always new features being developed, but not every one is worth your money.

There are several questions to consider at this point: First, how bright do you need the lighting? If you generally work in a non-open environment, you will want to have a uniform flood that will not be too bright-yes, there is indeed a “too bright” situation. Hundreds of lumens of light beams work well outdoors, but they only keep your eyes open when you clean the house. If you need to use light from a long distance, choose a gun light that has both high lumen and high light intensity-the higher the light intensity value, the longer the irradiation distance. Some strong light sources can even illuminate targets hundreds of yards away.

Now that we have completed the target identification, the next step is to capture the target, or what is commonly referred to as “targeting the target.” The most commonly used are mechanical or optical sights. They have almost no disadvantages and should never be abandoned; but if you want to improve the “directional shooting” capability of a weapon, laser gun lights will help you a lot.

However, like other equipment, the function of laser sighting is endless. For compact pistols, adding a simple red-dot laser sight to the grip is a simple and economical solution.

Selection of pistol gun lights

Let’s start with the basics-everyone has a pistol, right? The gun light has almost become the standard configuration of service guns in various departments. I have not seen any unit that does not allow the use of pistol lights. After all, the pistol light allows us to free up our deputies to do more things-open the door, change the magazine, operate the radio … Doing these things once meant that you would at least temporarily lose the lighting, and this is definitely not our action want.

These lighting fixtures have few limitations, but it is necessary to point out-first, they add weight and may affect the operation of the firearm, so training is essential; second, you need to find a pistol with new accessories installed A suitable holster. At present, it is difficult for regular holster products to take into account all combinations of weapons and gun lights. Finally, do n’t forget that they need to be regularly checked and maintained like other equipment, and remember to carry spare batteries with you so that they can be guaranteed. It doesn’t fail when you need it most.

About Laser Sight Gun Light

Should I install a laser sighting gun light? Simple visual red-dot laser sighting is already popular, especially when defending in a crowd, and it allows you to hit a target without having to shoot a gun sharply to aim. Most laser sightings can be integrated into the overall structure of the pistol, usually integrated on a replaceable grip or trigger guard.

The laser sighting gun light needs to be zero-calibrated according to the weapon it is equipped with, and can be triggered by the shooter pressing the grip or switch. When in use, only the light spot is projected on the target to shoot. This kind of laser sighting works well at close range, but the sight of the shooter is its main limiting factor-as the distance increases, the tiny light spots will become more and more difficult to see, and will not be used as Depending on the reference.

Contrary to its popularity in the civilian market, laser sightings have not been widely recognized and used in law enforcement. I think this may be related to the inability of the first-generation model to reliably keep to zero and the limitations of the distance used.

Choice of pike gun lights

The next thing to consider is the pistol light. Although pistols and pistols operate on the same principle, their uses are somewhat different. From a design perspective, rifles and shotguns, as more advanced weapon systems, have increased range and penetration capabilities compared to pistols. What we should pay attention to here is the increase of gun range. Pistol lights and laser gun lights with effective range less than 25 yards are not good choices for weapons with effective range of more than 100 yards.

Again, it’s important to emphasize that your mission properties determine the luminaire gunlight that is best for you. However, for most police rifles, I think gun lights with an effective range of more than 100 yards are a safer choice. Although brightness is important at this time, light intensity is the key to controlling the situation.

Most gun lights today use LEDs as the light source. Although the quality of the light spot has been improved, the limitation of the irradiation distance of LEDs has always been a problem. With the rapid development of technology in recent years, the performance of LED gun lights has improved considerably. The brightness of hundreds of lumens can provide sufficient lighting for house cleaning, while the high light intensity (some reaches more than 60,000 candela) makes the beam irradiation distance easily reach more than 100 yards.
