Stamford Food Collaborative was formed by United Way in the year 2015 in an order to bring together more than 20 food pantries, soup kitchens, nonprofit organizations, and passionate community members. Shawnee Knight from New Canaan, as a member of SFC, works collaboratively to have a greater impact on community hunger and food insecurity among struggling, hard working families in Stamford.
Shawnee Knight co-founded Filling in the Blanks in New Canaan along with one of her friends. Shawnee is a passionate chef, community activist, board member, wife, and mother who is equally good at carrying out each of her responsibilities. She is also a member of the Stamford Public Schools Strategic Planning Advisory Committee.
When away from work, Shawnee Knight enjoys spending time with her husband Douglas Knight and exploring the areas around New Canaan, CT.

Shawnee Knight is the co-president and co-founder of New Canaan based nonprofit organization called Filling in the Blanks that is dedicated to fighting child hunger by providing the children in need with nutritious meals on the weekends. The lunch program they offer provides meals to children in local pre-schools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and camps. Shawnee’s strong sense of social responsibility to nurture the community’s needy children has been the driving force behind this initiative. She is also serving on a number of committees and boards. A mother to two, Shawnee Knight has been married to one of the most reputed travel agency owners in New Canaan, CT, Douglas Knight for more than 20 years.
